Drug Enforcement

The Medina County Drug Task Force and MEDWAY Drug Enforcement Agency in Brunswick and Wadsworth address the supply-side of illegal drugs. Drug agents utilize mobile surveillance platforms, electronic telephone surveillance, computer aided analysis, videography, photography and electronic transmitting or tracking devices, as they follow leads provided by law enforcement and concerned citizens.

Drug Prevention

However, addressing the demand for illegal drugs is equally important. Preventing the experimentation and use of illegal drugs, including alcohol and tobacco is an ongoing challenge. Prevention Specialists in all Medina County School Districts are funded by the Anti-Drug Levy to provide students up-to-date and research based information on the addictive quality of drugs on the brain and body. Students are encouraged by classroom presentations, group activities and role-playing to not use alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs or misuse prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

Drug Treatment

Abusing drugs can lead to drug dependence. The Anti-Drug Levy funds three unique programs to assist individuals and families addicted to drugs. The Juvenile Drug Court is funded to provide treatment services that include youth and family counseling. Solutions Behavioral Healthcare receives funding for a clinician to assist individuals to access detoxification services and once discharged from the detoxification center to engage in ongoing treatment. Finally Cathy's House is funded to provide sober residence for men 18 years and older who suffer from alcohol and drug addiction.
